How Craig’s Canines Started
Craig's Canines was born out of my love for dogs and my desire to help others. I started the business in September of 2018 to provide a trustworthy pet care option for friends and family. This made me realize that many people don't have friends or family in the area to help them care for their pets while they are at work or on vacation and that I could be the solution. When my seasonal work ended for the summer, I decided to give it a shot. Spoiler alert, it turns out I absolutely loved taking care of animals full time!
My best friend Minnie
My first personal dog was Minnie, and she made me realize how much I enjoyed spending time with and working with dogs. She was and still is a huge people pleaser, and her eagerness to please led me to research how to train basic commands and tricks. I learned most of what I know from working with her and actually offered basic commands as a service for a brief period of time. She also happens to share a birthday with my mom! The best decision ever was the eight-hour road trip I took to get her.
Mama/Grandma Minnie
On top of being the catalyst for my dog business, Minnie has kept me busy as she is a mom to 3 litters of puppies and a grandma to 2 litters. Breeding puppies was not my original plan when I got Minnie, but so many friends and former classmates fell in love with her that I had a whole litter of puppies spoken for before I was even sure I wanted to breed her. I kept two puppies from her litters, Willow and Eskimo, and one from Willow's litter, Hazel.
